Petal Test our Mettle – Clifford E Lee Sanctuary

Our second reason for choosing this destination for our walk was to see the profusion of Alberta Wild Roses we expected to be in bloom. On our earlier trips, we had seen paths lined with rose bushes and we visualized rose flowers in abundance. While there were roses, they came in patches, still beautiful but not a-plenty.

The mosquitoes, on the other hand, were in abundance and we found ourselves swatting, swiping, spraying and running from time to time. Deep Woods Off was our only respite.

Petal Tests our Mettle

Roses are pink

mosquito bites are purple.

flesh so sweet,

I must taste like Maple Syrup-le.

    1. Thank you. I can only claim a bit of originality on the poem. The original (I do not know where it came from) is Roses are Red, Violets are Purple. Love is Sweet and so is Maple Syruple. Thanks for laughing with me Wendy. Allan
