Farewell to Og Lake – Back Country Hike – July 2019 – Part 14

After my 5 AM nature walk, I had to wait for the rest of our group to get up. There was no way I was going to unzip 3 zippers and climb back into the tent, at least not until a more respectable hour.

As we had planned to be on the trail by 8 and set alarms for 7, I crawled back in around 6:30 to start the packing process. Sleeping bag stuffed into stuff sack and air mattress and pillow deflated and stuffed and also stowed. We loaded our packs as much as we could and hoped the tent and fly would dry a bit while we ate breakfast.

Qia and trailer park mochas for breakfast.

A few other hikers were up. In fact, I had seen 2 through hikers with headlamps heading East at 5:30 AM, while I watched the sunrise. Keeners, I would guess.

Breakfast over, cleaned up and packed up , we headed back to see how the tents were drying. Not well, apparently. We packed everything up, keeping some wet stuff outside the packs and then paused for photos with Mount Assiniboine as our backdrop.
