European Vacation – September 21/19 – Riomaggiore (Cinque Terre), Italy (Part 10) – Riomaggiore Cemetery – Peaceful

On our walk up to the Top of the Town, we arrived at this cemetery before starting back down into Riomaggiore. While it may not be listed as a must see attraction, a little respectful, contemplative time should be spent. Apparently, locals have had to be enlisted in Cinque Terre to keep tourists from exploring these cemeteries disrespectfully. A few etiquette tips, should you decide to visit:

  • be respectful
  • do not litter
  • do not clambour on graves and mausoleums for a better view.

Peaceful

Eternity awaits us.

    1. I have seen a few like this one, usually where the ground is too rocky for burial. As to etiquette, I think all was OK until the era of selfies. I think tourists need to think, would I want this activity to happen at the grave site of my ancestors? Thanks for reading and commenting. Allan

    1. We hope it is not morbid, but, we also like to visit cemeteries on our travels. We were the only ones in the place when we were there, so no shenanigans going on. The location might best be described as a view for eternity. Thanks for reading Bernie. Allan
