Living Small – Fly Like an Eagle

Full Disclosure: This post and these photos originate from April 26/20.

I have always loved my Steve Miller Band Greatest Hits 1974-78 album. Fly Like an Eagle (#9 on the cassette or CD and # 2 on the vinyl B side) is likely my favourite track. Such an upbeat album with so many toe-tappers. OK, now I am showing how truly old I am. At least I did not mention 8-Track here. Damn, now I did.

On our walk down the closed road (due to the sink hole), we saw many interesting things, not the least of which was a Bald Eagle struggling valiantly to make headway into the 63 km NW winds, as he (she) carried nest materials to where a nest was being built. The eagle was a long ways away from us, but thanks to my long lens, I managed to capture a few shots. The title photo and the attached slide show are my attempt to Fly Like an Eagle, even if only for a moment. Thanks to the camera burst setting, I was able to make it look like I was doing what a 66 year old should not be able to. With apologies to Steve Miller, my haiku contains only some of the song lyrics, but I think they ring true, at least in my case.

Does it look like I am flying?

Fly Like an Eagle

Time keeps on slippin’,

let my spirit carry me.

Fly Like an Eagle

You lookin’ at me?
Hope I don’t have to ditch in the drink.
How do those damn geese make it look so easy?

Now, it is my turn. How do those damn geese make it look so easy?

    1. Thanks Blanca. We were in the right place at the right time to see this eagle struggling against the wind. As to the jump, pretty spry for an old guy. Thanks for reading and enjoy the day. Allan

    1. Thanks on the eagle shots. As to the vertical jump, I think the camera flattered the height. No dunk shot from me. Bad at basketball. Thanks for reading. Hope all is well with you. Allan

    1. Thank you. As to flying, the funny thing is that I always used to have flying dreams, no flapping or fluttering, just soaring. Guess my photo will be the closest I get. Thanks for reading Lori. Allan
