Vancouver in Early March – Part 10 – Lost Lagoon

No trip to Vancouver is ever complete without at least one trip to Lost Lagoon, a 6.6 hectare (41 acre) artificial, captive body of water, West of Georgia Street at the edge of Stanley Park. We may wander here 3-4 times over a week in Vancouver and the wildlife and views are never alike on any 2 days.

Silly Goose

Canada Geese strut

slowly on Lost Lagoon shore.

Aquatic splendour.

We walked around or passed by on at least 4 occasions on our trip and here is what we saw.

looking back to the West End
Spring is coming

Canada Geese

Blue Herons

Other water birds (ducks, mergansers, etc.)

Hungry sea otters

Shy sparrows

Skunk cabbage and other things.

This one never came close, but looked like an eagle
curious black squirrels
Benji Dog – He loved this area, but we had to keep reminding him not to challenge the Canada Geese

  1. I’m closing in on that very same “new job” and cant wait. I’ve been planning for a few years now. Moving north and looking forward to finally reporting to a boss who appreciates my worth. Beautiful pictures!!

    1. Congrats on your upcoming “promotion”. I can highly recommend it. Chatted with a former workmate yesterday and the old job is more Loony Tunes than ever. I do not miss it for even a moment. Thanks for reading and commenting Madeline. Stay well. Allan

  2. Great post Allan! The photos are beautiful (as always)! They sparked a great conversation with my oldest who loves talking animals. He told me everything he knows about herons and otters 😀 Hope you’re having a great week!
