Jasper in June (Part 3) – Patricia Lake Bungalows

Our residence of choice for our stay in Jasper National Park was Patricia Lake Bungalows. It is located on the Pyramid Lake Road just past the riding stables and just before Pyramid Lake Resort. It is off the main road and beside the prettiest little lake, named after my pretty wife. We have been here about 8 times over the years and the place just feels like home…..our home….in the mountains.

a welcome sight – no need to head to the office

In order to be part of the reopening, hotels and resorts had to implement strict protocols, particularly as they involve cleaning. The checkin was to be virtual. Every cabin was sanitized well in advance, the checkin papers posted on the door and the key left in the lock.

Virtual checkin – mountain style

Our home away from home was beautiful and as the first occupants after reopening, we would be very comfortable here.

Now it was time for us to set our protocols to make us feel more comfortable. Patty was the queen of infection control in her career, so we were in good hands.

We left our outside footwear at the door, put on house shoes and got to work. Surfaces were wiped again, before anything else was brought in from the car. I did manage to snap a few interior pix before this process began.

The good news was the equipped kitchen, which meant we could heat and eat most of meals in our sanitized, controlled environment. Being a cabin, we were also assured that we would be able to keep physical distance from the other guests.

Our first 3 nights were fairly uncrowded and we enjoyed the quiet and lack of crowding. By Thursday afternoon, we could see things changing, as more and more people arrived.

We were sad to leave on our last day but very satisfied with our overall experience. We hope to be back in the fall.

Out our front door on the last morning. You can see frost on the neighbouring cabin, the morning was sparkling.

    1. It was heaven. We got in right at the beginning, before anyone else stayed in the cabin. Also did not dine out and stayed distant hiking the trails. Hope you get an overnight trip soon. Thanks for reading. Allan

  1. During my stay in Jasper I went early in the morning to the Patricia and Pyramid lakes, as well as to the small island of the latter lake. Before the hustle and bustle of the day began, there was a feeling of peace and beauty reflected by the waters of the lake surrounded by forests and mountains. Thanks for sharing, and stay safe.

    1. The mornings and just before sundown are the best times to be by the lake. We were lucky to be living right there for 4 mornings and evenings. It is very peaceful. Thanks for reading and commenting. Allan

  2. That looks like a lovely little cabin! I wouldn’t mind spending time away from everything once the restrictions are fully lifted in Ireland. I’m glad you had a great time, Allan. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊 Aiva

    1. It was. The resort is doing a wonderful job of renovating their entire selection of cabins. Ours was newly done and very well appointed. It was like home. Thanks for reading and commenting Aiva. Allan

    1. No forest fires yet this year. Too much rain. We were there two years ago in August and it was too smoky to even do much hiking. It is beautiful, but even more so without the fires. Thanks for reading and commenting.
