Jasper in June (Part 27) – Day 4 Wildlife

No major encounters of the scary kind today. Wildlife was scarce, it would seem. Butterflies were everywhere along our trail, but few wanted to pose for me.

One shot of this butterfly was all I got
These geese floated far below our picnic stop on the Athabasca River
another butterfly – I think they like the warmth provided by the sun soaked trail
from the last viewpoint, we spotted these female Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep, looking a bit scruffy from the spring molt
I took this last close up before we hit the parking lot, a good thing as the stopping vehicles and shutter clicking humans had scared them away

This was pretty much our wildlife for the day until we were somewhere near Nojack. Patty spotted a dog running across the highway and wondered what kind of dog that was…wait…what, no, it was a black bear dodging traffic. No time for the camera, but, we did see a bear on this trip.

Hope you all enjoyed this mountain getaway as much as I enjoyed sharing it with you. Ciao.

    1. Thanks Colleen. We hope to get back in the fall for a few days. These will be our big trips for the year. Yay? Thanks for reading and coming along. Allan

  1. I love seeing butterflies but there seems to be very little this summer. Apparently there are 32 different species, but I haven’t had a chance to capture any of them. Thanks for sharing and have a lovely day 😀 Aiva
