43

Forty-three years have swiftly flown by,

from lowest low up to highest high,

It seems as if ’twas just yesterday,

with quaking knees, I heard your voice say

those two words “I do”, in front of all

assembled, that rainy day in fall.

So, on this day, with all of my love.

it’s always you that I’m thinking of,

forty-three years on, still side by side,

remembering my beautiful bride.

Happy anniversary to my best friend, my partner and my love.

    1. Thanks very much Scott. A bright spot in an otherwise bleak 2020. Stay well and enjoy your day. We are in a spell of fine weather here right now, so a nice walk in the river valley is in order. Thanks for reading. Allan

    1. Hi Aiva. Many thanks for your good wishes and I agree with your best thing in life assessment. 1977 was definitely a different time. Beautiful wedding dresses abound now, but the costs are astronomical. Thanks so much for reading. Allan

      1. Patty might correct me, but I seem to recall $225-250. It was a beautiful dress, but alas, did not stand the test of time. All the lace had been glued on rather than stitched. But, in 1977, who cared. Thanks for reading, Bernie. Allan

  1. What a beautiful poem Allan. Congratulations on 43 years of wedded bliss. I remember the day you met – and the lunches you and I had – with you asking for my advice on how to woo this lovely lady. So glad you were able to win her heart. All the best to you both – hugs

    1. Thanks T. Considering that w are in a pandemic, it was the best day ever, beautiful weather, walk, well wishes, physical distance visitors, first restaurant meal out in 6 months and I got to spend it with my best friend. Stay well and thanks for reading. Allan
