Today was to be the big day. We were going to do the ultimate summer bike ride, from Beaumont to Rolly View, a return trip of almost 50 km (31 miles).
It was cool, but winds were calm and the sun was shining brightly in the deep blue sky. Who knew if we would ever get the chance again in 2020?
I will let my photos and captions speak for themselves.
These photos were taken on August 21, 2020.
Grain crops were ripening in the late summer sun and while they appear good, the whole county has been declared an agricultural disaster. Hope they get what they can off the fields before snowfall.
Love this rural route mailboxRoad at the intersection of 233 and Rolly View Road. Any guesses why the hamlet is named Rolly View?Rolling hills of grain.
A tiny clump of sunflowers had been planted on the road allowance bringing a bright pop of colour.
At our turn around point (24 km in) a 124 year old church.

Lost in the rural landscape
Awww, c’mon honey, just one more photo stop…..Full disclosure, we rode along the streets of Beaumont a bit, just to get the magic number to 50 km. It still counts, right?
After working for 43+ years (38 years 7 months with my last company), I finally got that promotion I waited my entire career for……retirement.
I have been exploring this new career for the past 3+ years and while it is not always exciting, the chance to do what I want for myself and my family instead of what my company wanted me to do has been rewarding.
While I still miss the social aspect of working with a team of great people, I have managed to keep in touch with many from my former team and I have many friends and family members who now fulfill this part of my life. Now that my Patty has retired, we are able to spend more time in pursuits and with people who are near and dear to us.
I enjoy photography, gardening, working with my hands, walking, cycling, skiing, travelling, reading and creating special photo and video productions obtained in my first pastime. I may not become wealthy in any of these pursuits, but I already feel I am rich in life experiences far beyond any expectation.

Looks like it was a great ride. Great pictures, too.
Wow, 50 km, that’s very impressive, Allan! Well done, guys, and you managed to capture so many beautiful photographs 😀 Rural cycling provides us with the raw potential to experience the outdoors, as it is. I usually find myself getting lost in the surroundings and gawking at all that is around me while my legs are spinning in autopilot. Thanks for sharing and have a good day 😀 Aiva
It was good to get out and achieve the goal we set in early summer. You can see so much kore when you travel more slowly and take time to look around. We are incredibly lucky to have this chance. The autumn weather is fantastic right now. We managed a walk in the fall colours of the river valley today. Absolutely outstanding. Thanks for reading Aiva. Allan

Absolutely. When you are moving at a slow pace, you can see things and stop for photos better than in a car. Thanks for reading Scott. Allan
