The Current Normal – Lazy, Crazy, Hazy, Days of Awe-tumn (with apologies to Hans Carste (composer) and Nat King Cole (singer extraordinaire)
A story on the radio today indicated that some think a person’s favourite season is determined by the season of the year in which they are born. If so, that would certainly fit this couple, as both of us were born in November and we got married in September, at the cusp of Autumn.
Awe-tumn
Summer fast fading,
leaves quickly changing colour.
Amazing Awe-tumn.
These photos were taken on September 9, 2020.
Schubert Chokecherry leaves are now almost black. Berries already being eaten by birds.
Burr Oak and Amur Cherry no longer dressed in bright vernal green
sunburst through the Mugo pine
Bright red berries on Mock Orange
Amur Cherry holding onto leaves
Sunburst through Amur Cherry
Tomato vines withering, but fruit ripening – a yummy time of year
After working for 43+ years (38 years 7 months with my last company), I finally got that promotion I waited my entire career for……retirement.
I have been exploring this new career for the past 3+ years and while it is not always exciting, the chance to do what I want for myself and my family instead of what my company wanted me to do has been rewarding.
While I still miss the social aspect of working with a team of great people, I have managed to keep in touch with many from my former team and I have many friends and family members who now fulfill this part of my life. Now that my Patty has retired, we are able to spend more time in pursuits and with people who are near and dear to us.
I enjoy photography, gardening, working with my hands, walking, cycling, skiing, travelling, reading and creating special photo and video productions obtained in my first pastime. I may not become wealthy in any of these pursuits, but I already feel I am rich in life experiences far beyond any expectation.

Allan. I’m utterly delighted to find out you are born in November, because so are we both, but I’m not sure if that’s the reason why I love autumn so much. I just do. What date are your Birthdays, if you are villing to share, of course! Have a good day 😀 Aiva
Thanks Aiva. How did your area make out in the recent storm. I feel bad for the French and Italian areas that got hit. Stay well and thanks for reading. Allan
Missed your question on our birthdays. Mine is the 9th, Patty’s is the 29th and one son was born on the 4th. All 4 family birthdays are within 6 weeks and then comes Christmas. What dates are yours? Allan
Hi, Allan. Mine is the 16th and Valters is the 24th, although we share the same Birthdays month, my star sign is Scorpio and Valters is Sagittarius. It’s the same for you, guys isn’t! 😀
I’m with you. Winter is neat for a while (maybe a day) and then it is like a rerun. It will be especially tough during Covid. Let us hope that a bright light illuminates our world soon and we can have hope for a better year. Stay well and thanks for reading. Allan
I was born in June but my favorite season is Autumn! I still love the warmth and beauty of Summer but nothing beats the beautiful fall colors as nature is preparing for the long slumber ahead.
Stay well Allan!
Hi Angie. Always good to hear from you. Summer would be better if it were not for mosquitoes, but I am with you, Autumn is my favourite time of year. Thanks for reading and commenting and stay well. Allan

Lovely photos, especially of red berries! I like the way the light shines through them.

Thanks Ann. I did not even know that the Mock Orange shrubs had red berries. Good to get out and see my own back yard. Thanks for reading Ann. Allan
